Jorge Dorantes is a communications professional, journalist and photographer. A graduate of Indiana University with a degree in journalism and concentration in public relations, Dorantes has previously held roles with such Indianapolis-based non-profit organizations as Heartland Film, the Arts Council of Indianapolis and Indianapolis City Market. He currently serves as an executive communications manager at HPE.
In 2015, Dorantes became a recipient of the Arts Council of Indianapolis’ 2015 Arts Journalism Fellowship with the Indianapolis Star. In 2019, he was awarded the Axis 2020: Latinx Young Professionals Fellowship through the City of Indianapolis’ Office of International and Latino Affairs. In 2020, he became a member of IndyHub's 1828 Leadership Project Class X. In 2022 he became a recipient of the Korn Ferry Foundation’s Leadership U for Humanity Fellowship.
Dorantes is bilingual (Spanish), enjoys modern cinema, film processing (he shoots in medium format film), and occasionally freelances as a journalist. His written and photographic work has been published in USA Today, the Indianapolis Star and Indianapolis Monthly. Currently accepting assignments and commissions.
